It's fine to be annoyed by this but going all super sayan on random people "simply asking" for it shouldn't be defended imo.

In a thread more lively than this i might consider it to be a problem since if multiple people spam "update when" it might drown out real conversations. But if you feel like getting pinged a couple of times in a thread like this warrants someone to rage than that's your prerogative i guess.

Like i said, being annoyed is fine but getting that upset just doesn't seem healthy is all I'm saying.

Spam isn't defined by quantity, although it increases the annoyance. Furthermore it is bad practice to tolerate bad behavior just because it is at a low level, lest it grows to a problem that is difficult to get rid of. better to stop it while it is manageable.
