| i remember making a post on a forum from last season about all the sexual assault/rape related scenes and symbols in sao and how it was going to keep happening since i've read the LN and web novel and the author has a history of showing sexual assault in sao and only took out the most graphic one which was an actual rape scene from the web novel. he has changed a lot while writing sao and his writing reflects that. he's like a college student looking back at the cringy shit he used to post on facebook when he was in high school, the only difference is everyone is also looking at it, that's probably why he's writing sao progressive. most japanese writers think stuff like rape/sexaul assault are just edgy and hard fan service which is fcked up but thats a reflection of the society they grew up in ya_hallo said: Miquezosilva said: For real!?!????? | yes its ironic. doesn't like rape but you like ecchi stuff. but let me tell you this, watching our favorite character get assault by some messed up guy is not a comforting sight. Cross ange for example, i have it hard at the last episode but at least i endure it. Seikon no qwaser, they went all out with it from the first episode so i expect everthing so i dont care about the character and enjoy the pleasure hahaha, but sao, they didnt have any of that in the first season, they develop the character properly(at least what i thought hahaha), made the audience like the character, and finally, sexually assault her in eps 24. that, is, uncomfortable. i like ecchi such as to love ru, NGNL, the stupid one like valkryie drive and Seikon no qwaser, but raping my favorite character is not my thing. thats why i dont read beserk to hahaha. i red the chapter when she got raped and well, without any context and backstory i enjoyed it HAHAHA but im sure if i red it from the beginning i willl hate that. that's why probably im fine reading hentai with rape in it especialy when it went hardcore, cause i dont care about the context hahaha. so in conclusion, with context and backstory it became uncomfortable but without any of them it became enjoyable, thats what i feel. fucked up i know, and im sure im not alone here hehe. thats why i dropped sao. i know the character, i understand the character, and i like some of them. favorite character got assault is not a beautiful sight. plus i don't like the villain. it's too late to enjoy those sexually assaulted girls similar to hentai. i like ecchi but when it's placed in a wrong time in my opinion, i dislike it. yep its an opinion, cause some people hate the ecchi in NGNL but i like it because it's funny for me. |

I think a fair argument you can make is that people are still not okay with it on something like a LA movie, but there, it will still feel more realistic and grounded, versus what an anime is supposed to be, so many just take it badly to suddenly seeing such heavy topic being handled like that, on an anime that outside that moment rarely, if ever deals into such heavy content. People would be finer with it, if from the start, said anime gave a more mature feeling, gave them the impression that shit like this may happen, as being something believable to happen in such world... Then again, you have Goblin Slayer, which got people mad... but Berserk is a better example, where such themes are treated with more respect and proper weight. I was fine with stuff like this previously on SAO, so I should also be with this, but I wont know till I read these volumes in the LN, which I want to do before checking the anime 15-18 adaptation content. |

| Ikr, such immersion breaking for a tentacle rape on a seemingly serious plot. All I can do is rolling my eyes. The tentacle rape is so pointless for the plot. People in Mal gave HxEro and Peter Grill low rating despite they set up their tone to be ecchi and goofy from the get go (so all those dumb part and ecchi part perfectly fits), yet they rate SAO high with this immersion breaking tentacle rape that's completely out of tone? That's why I never take Mal's score seriously. |
