- Throughout the Old Testament, the Lord sent many prophets to the nation of Israel, but these prophets only served to train the people's ears for the Messiah, Jesus Christ. Deuteronomy 17-18 culminates in Moses' prediction of this ultimate Prophet's coming as we also learn about true sacrifice, capital punishment, and the requirements for Israel's kings.
This teaching is from our series 05 Deuteronomy - 2015 with Skip Heitzig from Calvary Albuquerque.
Thank you so much for these teachings.
I love your teachings Pastor Skip😊I'm learning so much 😊😊😊

God bless you pastor Skip and your Ministry.
Deuteronomy 17 tells to kill non belivers
I love expound.. all of his teachings. I wish I could learn more of the Old Testament. I’ve gone through almost all of the Expound Old Testament teachings. Love it.
Also when my child was about 12, we went to the UNM basketball stadium to hear Pastor Heitzig's sermon. My daughter Anne was already saved but it was difficult for either one of us to remain faithful. When I heard "Come thou fount of every blessing" grace was our only hope to walk the walk.
Thanks Skip. Something that's difficult or impossible for us to get our minds around is the idea that God - being the Creator - including the Creator of time - transcends time itself. He stands outside time and therefore He sees the end from the beginning. If we think of time as a flowing river with the starting point at the beginning of the universe and end point at the end of the universe we can think of God being able to see the whole river in one timeless eternal instant. Having this attribute it's no wonder that He can enable those He chooses to "see" into the future and prophecy. God has given His children the gift of eternal life. This is a staggering thought. We will live long after all the stars in the universe are burnt out cinders. But then when you think about it since God created us to worship Him and since He is infinite in His nature we will require eternal life to fully know Him and worship Him as well as know all His other children. We will one day meet Abraham and Moses and Joseph and David and all the other great servants in scripture. To fully explore God's glorious Kingdom will require us to live forever. As Tozer said, the journey into the heart of God is a journey into infinity. What a gift God has given us through our Lord Jesus Christ!!!
Another great message, thank you!

Deuteronomy 18 ver.18 (48:37) such an easy prediction, and conveyed by John the baptist but unrealized by His own people🤷⏳
Did you know about Doctor Jack C. Redman? He is my daughter's grandfather. She was born 02/15/1984 at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque.
From the Philippines
Crazy that the next year in 2016 Cubs win the World Series, and they hadnt won one since 1908.
hold on, why don't we adhere to what the bible tells us to do at 14:00 anymore?
Its the Old covenant law which does not apply anymore since it's not in the New
It doesn't tell you to do because that was the law of Moses sent to regulate that current social climate.
😢😢😢😢Anen😢😢😢❤❤❤❤❤❤ Amen 🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
I wonder if God was the Judge in the place of His dwelling and He divinely influenced the Levites' verdicts. I would think so considering the punishment for questioning the verdict. When they did, they weren't really questioning the verdict at ALL. They were questioning God's judgement. I may be entirely wrong about that, but that's what I'm being led to believe by the words I'm seeing.
Both Muslims and Christians are wrong. You need to take the Deuteronomy
18 into context. Moses was essentially giving a goodbye speech because
the god of Abraham would not let him enter the land of Canaan. Moses was
afraid that without his leadership they would do what they did before:
make a golden calf. Muslims have purposefully ignored preceding verses
of Deuteronomy 18:9-14 about WHY he raising up a prophet. So Moses was
talking about an immediate successor who would keep them away from the
Canaanite religions. So who is this prophet?... Joshua.
I know this is 2 years after you wrote this but…Numbers 27:18 - so the Lord said to Moses, “take Joshua son of Nun, a man in whom is the spirit of leadership, and lay your hand on him. (20) give him some of your authority so the whole Israelite community will obey him.
(22) Moses did as the Lord commanded him.
I’m pretty sure that sums up how the prophet is not Joshua. If the prophet was Joshua I am sure God would have made that very clear
37:45
DEUTERONOMY 17 : IF THERE BE FOUND AMONG YOU WITHIN ANY OF THY GATES WHICH THE LORD THY GOD GIVETH THEE ,MAN OR WOMAN THAT HATH WROUGHT WICKEDNESS IN THE SIGHT OF THE LORD THY GOD IN TRANSGRESSING HIS COVENANT;
17:3 AND HATH GONE AND SERVED OTHER GODS AND WORSHIPPED THEM EITHER THE SUN OR MOON OR ANY OF THE HOST OF HEAVEN WHICH I HAVE NOT COMMANDED
17:4 AND IT BE TOLD THEE AND THOU HAST HEARD OF IT AND ENQUIRED DILIGENTLY , AND BEHOLD ,IT IS TRUE AND
THE THING CERTAIN THAT SUCH ABOMINATION IS WROUGHT IN ISRAEL
17:5 THEN SHALT THOU BRING FORTH THAT MAN OR THAT WOMAN WHICH HAVE COMMITTED THAT WICKED THING UNTO THY GATES EVEN THAT MAN OR THAT WOMAN AND SHALT STONE THEM WITH STONES TILL THEY DIE
